SEATTLE — A Seattle pot shop is once again cleaning up broken glass and debris after an overnight crash-and-grab burglary, about six months after the same location was hit.
Cannazone Seattle, located on 1st Avenue in the SODO neighborhood, had a black vehicle smash into the wall between 3 and 4 a.m. Tuesday morning. 5 suspects were able to gain access to the store and made off with about $15,000 worth of items inside the store.
This same Cannazone location was hit in October 2023 as well, with suspects using a vehicle to smash into the front door of the business. The suspects were not able to gain entry to the building in that attempt and abandoned the white KIA pictured below at the scene.
Cannazone Seattle is among many cannabis retailers around western Washington who have been victimized by these crash-and-grab burglaries. A bill that would have added a 12-month sentence enhancement for people convicted of a burglary where a vehicle was used to smash into the business did not pass during the latest legislative session in Olympia.
The owner of Cannazone says she has had multiple locations hit recently, and quickly realized the situation Tuesday morning when her phone rang.
“Immediately panic, because it always happens around 3 o’clock. It’s between 3:30 and 4 o’clock every time. So when I get a call around that time, I know my store is getting broken into,” said Juliet Jreig.
