St. Patrick’s Day weekend: Learn about The Irish Heritage Club, Seattle’s sister city Galway, Ireland



The Tara Academy of Irish Dance performed live during KING 5 Weekend Mornings. Many dancers will be part of the parade through downtown Seattle on Saturday.

SEATTLE — The Irish Heritage Club Seattle is gearing up for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend but shares with KING 5 that it is working year-round to offer several cultural events.

The Irish Heritage Club Seattle is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization organizes and promotes Irish cultural activities in the Greater Seattle area.

The activities include performances of Irish music, Irish dancing, Irish language, Irish history, Gaelic games, and cultural exchanges with Seattle’s Sister City of Galway, Ireland. 

The mayor of Galway, Eddie Hoare, joined KING 5 Mornings for a chat about the international and cultural partnership. Hoare will head to Washington, D.C., next to meet with President Joe Biden and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.

During this weekend’s interview about Irish heritage – dancers with the Tara Academy of Irish Dance performed on the KING 5 plaza.

The dance academy was founded in 1994 by Julie Raney, TCRG, and Sara Raney Williams, TCRG.

The Tara Academy teachers and dancers have been competitive and performing locally, regionally, and internationally.
