Livingston, Maplewood Fencers Earn Spots On USA Olympic Team

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston native and fencing star Elizabeth Tartakovsky has qualified for her first Summer Olympics and will be competing with Team USA in Paris.

The rising star has built up an impressive resume, highlighted recently by a bronze medal at the 2023 Tashkent World Cup, according to USA Fencing. Now, she’s headed to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

According to USA Fencing, here’s what to know about the saber specialist:

“Tartakovsky, a Harvard alum, discovered her passion for fencing after being captivated by the sport’s unique blend of athleticism and strategy. Coached by Yury Gelman, she has achieved significant milestones, including a bronze medal at the 2023 Tashkent World Cup. Her journey from ballet to fencing highlights her adaptability and drive for success. She’s heading to her first Olympics.”

The saber fencer will be joined by another New Jersey native, Jackie Dubrovich, who has qualified for the foil competition.

She’s heading to her second Olympics.”
