Akasa: Akasa Air flights from Bengaluru to Chennai, Hyderabad suspended | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Crisis-hit domestic carrier Akasa Air has suspended flights from Bengaluru to Chennai and Hyderabad, citing operational reasons. Many passengers who had pre-booked tickets on the two routes are awaiting refunds as their flights were abruptly cancelled. The airline is likely to cancel more flight operations from Bengaluru in the coming days.
Akasa was operating two flights to Chennai and one to Hyderabad daily. Sources at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) confirmed that an Akasa Air Bengaluru-Hyderabad flight was abruptly suspended weeks ago despite many passengers having booked tickets on the route.
Gaurav Chauhan from Noida, who had booked a seat on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad flight for September 15, lamented on social media that he was yet to receive a full refund as cancellation fee was deducted despite the airline having initiated the process.
This was followed by Akasa Air also suspending its Bengaluru to Chennai flights; the route was started with much fanfare in mid-2022. “We have been told it was due to some operational hurdles. We no longer operate flights between Bengaluru- Hyderabad and Bengaluru-Chennai. The Bengaluru-Kochi route is also facing crisis with flight cancellations and rescheduling in recent weeks affecting passengers badly,” said an Akasa Air ground staffer at KIA . Sources also confirmed that more flights between Bengaluru and some other destinations are likely to be suspended in the coming weeks. TOI’s queries to Akasa Air didn’t receive any response till Wednesday.
