NEW DELHI: Delhi Police, on Wednesday, reported the discovery of a 43-year-old man’s injured body near the service road of National Highway-8 (NH8) in Delhi.
The incident occurred after a video depicting a man being dragged by a car had circulated online.
ANI quoted the Delhi police as saying, the viral video depicted a man’s body being dragged by a car near Mahipalpur on National Highway-8 in Delhi.
The police confirmed that the deceased individual was identified as Bijender, hailing from Faridabad, Haryana.
Providing details regarding the case, the police stated, “On October 10, at approximately 11.20 pm, a PCR call was received at Vasant Kunj North Police Station, reporting the discovery of an unidentified male body with injuries near the service road of NH8.”
Upon receiving this information, the police promptly arrived at the scene and proceeded to recover the deceased individual’s body.
Subsequently, following a thorough investigation, it was determined that the body belonged to a 43-year-old taxi driver named Bijender, who resides in Faridabad.
The police have stated that they are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deceased’s death, and they are also conducting an inquiry into the viral video.
Following these developments, the police proceeded to register a case under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station.
