Great Outfits in Fashion History: Lana Del Rey’s Shimmery Vivienne Westwood Gown

There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.

Some fashion pairings just make sense — Lana Del Rey and this gorgeous Vivienne Westwood silver gown are one of those perfect duos.

In 2016, to walk the carpet at Vanity Fair‘s Oscars afterparty, the Grammy-nominated singer went with a stunningly shimmery dress designed by the iconic British designer. Of course, this wasn’t the first (or last) time Del Rey was spotted in Westwood’s designs, but to be honest, it might just be the best. As we all know, Del Rey — especially earlier in her career — has a penchant for vintage glamour. With elegant cap sleeves and gently pleated fabric, this gown leans right into that old Hollywood magic.

For her hair and makeup, Del Rey kept things predictable. (Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.) Volumized auburn locks, fresh-face makeup and her classic eyeliner wing helped make the carpet-ready look her own.
