CULBERTSON — In a close call, it was almost a double win for the Fairview Warriors as they traveled to Culbertson to take on the Cowboys and Cowgirls in a double-header Thursday. 

Fairview took an early lead (21-2) in the first quarter, setting the tone for the remainder of the game, which involved the Warriors scoring an average of about 15 points per quarter. With a halftime score of 44-14, the Warriors safely saw the Culbertson Cowboys in their rear-view mirror, leading to a 61-33 win for Fairview. 

Jeff Tjelde led the Warriors, scoring a total of 18 points, followed by Landen Thompson 15, Tyler Loan 10, Deacon Gackle and Troy Karst 5, and Wyatt McPherson 4. For Culbertson: Plenny Williams 11, Bridger Salvevold 6, Ian Snyder 5, Nyreece Halvorson and Donte Eagle Boy 4, and Micah Eagle Boy 3. 

In what looked to be a game in a similar fashion turned different for the Fairview girls. While Fairview was ahead 14-7 in the first quarter, the Cowgirls turned it around in their favor, amassing 16 points in the second quarter, leading to a halftime score of 23-18 for Culbertson. The Cowgirls continued on in the second half, scoring 21 points to Fairview’s 13 points. While Fairview attempted to catch up, scoring 18 points to Culbertson’s seven in the final, it was just under the buzzer for a 51-49 win for Culbertson. 

Macy Tjelde led the Warriors, scoring a total of 22 points, followed by Kallee Hopes 16, Carly Buxbaum 7, Brooklyn Anderson 3, and Brailey Anderson 1. For Culbertson: Emma Berwick and Destiny Thompson 14, Leandra Perkins 7, Payton Labatte and Ivy Colvin 5, Ayden Ator 4, and Mariana Burciaga 2. 


Boys’ Basketball:

PLENTYWOOD — The Richey-Lambert Fusion traveled to Plentywood Thursday for a double-header which left the home team securing two victories. 

The Fusion would fall short to the Wildcats, who held a 19-point lead at halftime. Plentywood, who averaged a little under 16 points a quarter, would jump ahead with a 63-32 win over the Fusion. 

For Richey-Lambert, Austin Lien would lead with 14 points, followed by Ryan Eggert 10, Beau Mullin 5, Cade Verschoot 2, and Tanner Goosen 1. For Plentywood, Landon Flickinger 20, Carson Solberg 16, Noah Murray 8, Ayden Kaul 7, Nathan Trupe and J. Dickey 4, and Ben Hagan and Chance Klein 2. 

Plentywood stayed one step ahead of the Fusion girls in their first quarter, 13-11. They would remain ahead with a 22-15 halftime score, followed by a second half which saw Plentywood score 29 points to Lambert-Richey’s 18, leading to a 51-33 win for the Wildcats. 

ShaeLyn Williams led the Fusion with 9 points, followed by Keira Rains 7, Jolee Klempel 5, Lauren Prevost and Brie Mullin 4, and Brynne Hill and Kally Strohm 2. 



SAVAGE — It was a quiet week for the Savage Warriors, who last played on Saturday. The Warriors would host a double header against the Westby-Grenora Thunder Friday evening. The results of that game were not available by press time. 



SIDNEY — Fifty-three was the magic number for the Sidney Eagles on Tuesday during a double header against the Glasgow Scotties. While it didn’t favor as well for the Sidney girls, who fell to the Scotties 62-53, it worked for the Eagles boys, who defeated Glasgow 53-46. 

Kevin Hutzenbiler led the Eagles, scoring 13 points, followed by Braylon DiFonzo 12, Aren Larson 8, Cayden Heck 6, Chace Waters 4, Graden Sukut 4, Cooper McNally 4, and Ryder Hansen 2.


Boys’ Wrestling:

The Sidney/Fairview Eagles took a win and a loss during a triangular against Watford City Wolves and the Bismarck Demons on Thursday. 

In the first dual, the Eagles defeated the Wolves 57-18. For Sidney/Fairview: Eli Lonski (107, forfeit), Gordan Knapp (144, over Corban Sorenson, fall 0:58), Brenner Mullin (127, forfeit), Aaron Schmitz (133, over Stran Sorenson, TF 15-0 4:14), Brody Keysor (139, over Will Langford (fall 2:43), Reece Graves (145, over Brier Arnegard, MD 11-0), Ty Schepens (160, over Griffon Signalness, fall 0:17), Brandon Pederson (172, over Hayden Pastrano, fall 1:49), Cooper Fulgham (215, over Lewis Larson, fall 1:11), and Caleb Kleinke (285, over Sam Inman, fall 5:32). For Watford City: Rowdy Mott (121, forfeit), Ethan Dennis (152, over Jason Sorteberg, fall 2:34), and Beau Hovland (189, forfeit). 

In the second dual, the Eagles fell to the Demons 57-9. For Sidney/Fairview: Knapp (144, over Bryson Hach, dec. 14-10) and Kleinke (285, over Kobe St. Aubin, fall 6:00). For Bismarck: Logan Mertens (107, over Tyson Syth, dec. 7-10), Ben DeForest (127, over Mullin, fall 1:28), Braeden Halverson (133, over Schmitz, MD 14-5), Hudson Egeberg (139, over Kayden Bousquet, fall 1:03), Landon McMahen (145, over Cody Crooks, fall 0:56), Devin Halverson (152, over Jason Sorteberg, fall 0:47), Tyrus Jangula (160, over Schepens, TF 16-1 4:04), Bridger Owens (189, forfeit), and Ayden Schlafman (215, over Fulgham, fall 0:35).
