The Houston Rockets are winners of nine straight games, and a big catalyst behind the team’s recent success has been third-year guard Jalen Green.

Green, 22, is averaging 27.8 points per game in the month of March and the Rockets have gone 11-1. It’s a big difference from February, when he was averaging a modest 15.8 points per game.

Among those who have noticed Green’s ascent is former Rockets guard Lou Williams, who spoke about Houston’s Play-In push on “Run It Back” with fellow franchise alumnus Chandler Parsons and host Michelle Beadle.

“Give it to Jalen Green,” Williams said when asked who should be credited the most with Houston’s success. “Since Sengun has been out, they’ve played a brand of basketball that works for him.”

Green has needed to become a spark plug for the Rockets with Sengun and fellow athletic guard Cam Whitmore sidelined with injuries. However, despite the Rockets’ nine-game win streak, the team is still one game behind the Golden State Warriors for the No. 10 seed. And Houston doesn’t have the tiebreaker against Golden State, so Green and the Rockets will have to go into another gear if they want to play bonus basketball this season.

Green and the Rockets are back in action tonight as they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Paycom Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
