New Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 design: Changes over old Himalayan explained

After n number of test mule spottings, Royal Enfield has now finally officially taken the wraps off the new Himalayan. The Himalayan has existed in its first-gen version since inception, despite receiving subtle makeovers over the years. However, the new-gen Himalayan is a completely new motorcycle with a fresh design but the same overall styling ethos.
The motorcycle gets an LED headlamp with LED turn indicators, a shorter windshield, a new beak that looks similar to the Hero Xpulse, redesigned fuel tank, a larger intercooler, new grab handles, new exhaust, as well as new graphics all around. Some other big changes include upside down front forks along with slightly more road-biased dual-purpose tyres, with the front wheel looking smaller than the 21-inch unit seen on the current Himalayan. The motorcycle continues to run on spoked wheels.
While Royal Enfield is yet to officially confirm the specs of the motorcycle, the new Himalayan is expected to be equipped with a larger 452 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, putting out around 40 hp of power and 45 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In contrast, the old Himalayan (current-gen) gets a 411 cc single-cylinder air-oil cooled engine producing 24 hp power and 32 Nm torque.

The new-gen Himalayan 452 will also come equipped with a new, larger digital instrument cluster as compared to the digi-analogue instrumentation seen on the current model. While the current model is priced from Rs 2.16 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, the new Himalayan is expected to carry a heftier price tag considering all the modern bits including the new powertrain, platform, suspension setup and new tech.
