NEW DELHI: Reacting to the court decision to vacate the interim stay to evict him from his “cancelled” government accommodation, Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha said the trial court “has returned my case on a legal technicality, which, I am legally advised to state, is based on an incorrect understanding of the law”.
Emphasising that he would take an appropriate action under law, the AAP leader said, “I will continue to raise the voice of people of Punjab and India fearlessly, irrespective of the costs involved.”
Calling the cancellation arbitrary without any notice to him, he alleged, “There are many irregularities in the said order and the subsequent steps were taken by Rajya Sabha Secretariat in clear contravention of rules and regulations”.
The bungalow was allotted by the Chairman of Rajya Sabha after taking into consideration all the factors “peculiar to me”, but its cancellation “without any cause or reason” signals that the entire exercise was undertaken to “wrongfully target and victimise me”, the MP claimed. “This, along with my suspension as an MP, which was initiated by the treasury bench, leaves no doubt that BJP is leaving no stone unturned to target vocal MPs,” he alleged.
Chadha claimed that many first-time MPs had been allotted accommodations above their entitlement. “About 118 out of the 240 RS members are living in accommodations above their entitlement, but selectively targeting… vocal representatives, who are giving a strong opposition to BJP on the floor of the House and maintaining a healthy democracy, is a sorry state of affairs for the nation,” he added. tnn
